Special Education Attorney
Leejanice Toback

Dear Parents,

Nothing is more important than a child’s education, no matter what their abilities. In the United States, every child is entitled to a free appropriate public education (FAPE). Special needs services and placements ensure that exceptional children are properly educated and cared for while in the classroom. Unfortunately, while this should be automatic, obtaining these services from the School District is often difficult and can require the help of an educational attorney.

My mission is to assist you and your child through the difficult process of obtaining (or keeping) the special educational services that they depend on to be successful. I serve families in the Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura, Inland Empire and other surrounding school districts. Some of my services include:

  • Representing children in Due Process Hearings under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Developing an Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Referrals for special education services
  • Testing and evaluation of District reports
  • Juvenile court proceedings against qualified special needs students
  • Obtaining Non Public School Placements
  • Getting funding for Residential Placements

School districts often tell parents that children will outgrow their difficulties. This is one way that students with special needs slip through the cracks of the educational system; I believe that, instead of letting time tick away as your child grows without the support of proper school placement services, beginning this journey as soon as possible is the best option for your child’s success.

I understand how overwhelming raising an exceptional child can be; I faced these challenges raising my own special needs son. Going back and forth with your school district about your child’s right to a decent education is the last thing that any parent needs to deal with. You do not have to go through this difficult task alone.

If you have any questions, please contact my office to set up a phone or in-person consultation. Your peace of mind is my top priority.
